In any engineering, mechanical, or industrial process, a high rate of experience in equipment erection and installation will always be an essential requirement. Almost all industries in the Philippines have a mechanical erection and installation teams. Divide that to specialties down to Agri Industry, further divide that to the industry for mechanized systems, and then bring it down to a more specific industry for animal feeds – you would get a very specialized niched area of expertise on installation for Feed Mill equipment.
Similar and cousin to the flour and rice milling industries, Feed Mill equipment installation teams are only a handful in the Philippines. Bring it to experience; you would only find a couple of teams. Most of these are engaged within a feed milling company or independently offering installation for their own locally fabricated equipment. Trick it down further; you need experience installing high-grade European equipment like VSM Technical Consultants.
DEFINITION AND PROCESS
Equipment erection and installation is a standard process in building a mill. It starts and ends with plotting where equipment will be placed. Lifting and carrying it to its location, temporarily supporting it, rectifying all support to strengthen, unloading temporary supports, and finishing installation – ready for the subsequent mechanical equipment or other components connected to it to be installed.
Once done, all mechanical components are in place, it will be ready for a trial test run, and eventually commissioning, and then the final test run.
TIP 1: EXPERIENCED INSTALLER MATTERS
Installation is similar to standard mechanized systems. The difference comes with the proper setting and conjunction activities with steel structure, steel components, support elements, and other aspects that need proper configuration. Only an experienced installer in this field will know; before starting any installation work in this field, best to check the background experience of each personnel. An installer with experience in feed milling operations is an even better candidate.
TIP 2: IMPROVEMENT PHASE IS KEY
When the system and flow of operations during erection and installation are already steady, this is the point in the project where coordination also becomes steady and eventually degrades. At any point, there should always be an “improvement phase” to a new efficient system. This will not only ensure continuous improvement methods but eliminates possible degradation of work efficiency in the field. It applies to the animal feed industry and almost all mechanized system installation projects. This is one of our crucial observations to minimize delays and unforeseen costs.
WHY VSM?
Our team comes in on the requirement for installing feed mill equipment. VSM’s team in the Philippines is the only “IMPORTED” equipment provider with an in-house engineering, design, construction, and installation team.
Everyone else either is on a sub-contract basis, a partner, or they transfer this crucial part of feed mill installation to the client. There are many factors at play why no one can do it all in 1 go – risk, cost, and level of experience needed.
But the elephant in the room that is always foregone is the aspect where the equipment provider pushes “as much as they can” to make all “other” components “local” to lessen cost, thereby making a lot more grey areas – specifically resulting to major disadvantage to the client/buyer.
We are the only team in the country that can guarantee from design to turnover, from imported to all local aspects of the supply, and many more turnkey-related concerns. Supply of the equipment is only 30% of the cost and problems in building your mill. The rest of it boils down to local and installation processes.
Inexperienced engineers will end up with a trial-and-error process even with the complete instructions followed from the manuals. This results in a more extended period of the installation process. Everything can be done, but only some things can be done on time. Time is cost, and the cost is crucial for us here in the Philippines.
We have a massive portfolio that we can showcase for you to see how we plan, design, install and turnover feed mill projects in the Philippines. Reach out to us for more information through our phone, Viber or WhatsApp line.
